Publix is a great store for couponers! They have a lot of policies in place that make it easy to save a ton of money on your groceries.

  1. Most Publixes accept COMPETITOR coupons! All Publixes differ as to which stores they consider competitors, so you need to ask at Customer Service which stores they accept. All of the Publixes in the Canton area accept Target coupons along with manufacturer coupons.
  2. Most Publix stores double manufacturer coupons up to 50 cents. (Please note: Florida stores do NOT double coupons!)
  3. Publix runs awesome Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) sales every week. You do NOT have to buy both items to get the BOGO price- essentially, both items are half-price. (If Ritz crackers are BOGO at $4.99 for 2 boxes, this means that 1 box is actually $2.50).
  4. You can use coupons on both items in the BOGO sale! Be sure to read your coupon carefully, however. If your coupon says “$1 off of 1 box of Ritz Crackers”, you can use 2 coupons (one on each box). If your coupon says “$1 off of 2 boxes”, you can only use one of those coupons.
  5. Publix is great about putting out coupon books full of store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons. Always be on the lookout for these, especially around the entrance and exit of the store and in the carousel where the ads are (but only take a couple- don’t be greedy!).
  6. Publix also has what they call “Advantage Buys” fliers- a yellow one full of grocery items and a green one full of personal care items. The sale prices are not great, but they are full of store coupons that are excellent! There are new ones every month.
  7. Publix has several different clubs and publications. I highly suggest signing up for each of these- they mail you great coupons! (Baby Club, Preschool Pals, and Family Style magazine…)
  8. If they are out of a sale item that you want, ask for a rain check. If you have coupons that are about to expire, be sure to tell them. They will note that on your coupon so that you will still be able to use them when the item is back in stock.

Scenario:

Ritz crackers are BOGO at $4.99
You have $1/1 manufacturer coupons and $1/1 Target coupons.
Use TWO man q’s and TWO Target q’s
Buy 2 boxes of crackers:
$4.99-$2(man q’s) = $2.99
$2.99-$2(target q’s)- 99 cents.
Final cost: 99 cents for TWO boxes of crackers, or about 50 cents apiece!
